I have a bid to get my two Hercs to Brussels from Portland, Oregon (in one crate) of $1600, which is roughly half of the last quote I had. I talked to you a number of times at the Corduroy and other enduros in Canada a few years ago. I am from Pittsburgh, PA. I traveled in a large motorhome with former KTM factory rider, John Farrar. I noticed on your homepage that you competed in 1959 in a town nearly the same as my last name. That was also the year I was born. You are a true gentlemen and our sport and KTM is lucky to be associated with you.

Started street riding, if you can call it that, in 1962 w/aHonda 50 while at LSU. Graduated to a Honda CL72 to ride towork and school. Gave up the street stuff after a few close calls w/idiots. Took off the mirrors and started riding in the woods of south Louisiana, when I could.

Tried a couple of more Honda street bikes sort of converted to dirt, which was an experience.Found Hodaka in about 1968 and stated riding local enduros. Came into a 1969 Maico 360 enduro. The one w/a steel 4 gal tank and up pipe. W

Went to graduate school in 1971 and stopped riding for 2 years. Then bought a Combat Wombat and sundry other Hodaks for spouse and kids. Rode a couple of nationals on the CW. Finished but no trophy.

Went through a couple of Husky 250s, a PE250 and finally a Husky 390 WR. It ate me in 1980 and spouse suggested the injuries were not so good. So...stopped riding until the kids gave me riding for the 63rd birthday.

have a 1982 Husky 250XC I am resurecting, a 1983 Honda XR200R that is called Frankenbike due to the conglomeration of parts we used to build it, and the Sachs?Hodaka project.

Am 66 years old semi-retired Architect. Wife suggested I get out of the house and find something constructive to do, so I help local A/E firm w/QA, specs and CA. Am moving to Shreveport, La as soon as the house sells and start a small practice in Construction Defects Analysis.
Kids live in Eureka Springs, Ar and will visit them and look for a place to ride. SLOW cause of various maladies.

Having the opportunity to watch Helmut ride as I grew up was a thrill. It didn't take a lot to figure out he was one of the fast guys.
